Diet in Spring


Spring is the most beautiful and enriching season. Nature is at bliss in spring and with flowers of all colors and fragrances it feels as if nature has come to life. It falls in between winter and summer and neither is too cold not is too warm. Climate is moderate and the days are warm whereas the nights are cold.

Effects on Body
The sun rays start getting warm in this season, the phlegm deposited in our bodies in winter starts melting with these sun rays. As the phlegm starts moving we see a lot of common diseases related to it in this season like (cough, sinusitis, common cold, asthma, tonsillitis and indigestion). The temperature rises smoothly and thus reducing the cold which further affects the balance of water and smoothness in our body. So we should keep a check on our wholesome diets as acidic, sweet and salty food products adds on phlegm.

Wholesome Dietary Plan in Spring

We should consume fresh, light and easily digestible food in this season. Sour, fervent and pungent food is suggested. Green Pulse (moong), gram (chana), barley (jau), old wheat, rice, wry, sprouted seeds, butter, green vegetables, bitter gourd, garlic, spinach, mustard oil, banana flowers, black pepper, lemon and honey are the most beneficial. One should drink enough water and gargle to keep phlegm at bay. Light exercises and yog asana regularly also helps. Walk before Sunrise adds on to health. Bathing after applying oil all over body and to cleanse all body parts is good for health. Smoking herbal remedies, applying kohl, wearing cap to prevent from Sun rays is suggested. Post bath applying camphor, sandal and saffron paste on body adds on to health. While morning walks could keep mind fresh.

Avoid from Dietary Plan in Spring

In this season heavy greasy food, tamarind and too much of sweets and foods of cold should be avoided.
New cereals, urd (udad), porridge, cream and dates are not suggested. To remain under sky at night in dew, to stay out in cold at night or Light exercises and yogasan regularly also helps. Walk before Sunrise adds on to health…
