The growth of body is due to the assimilation of food. After consumption of food their nutritional attributes are converted and assimilated into the body via digestive processes, which further helps in the growth of blood, body juices and muscles.

To follow fasting one does not required a certain scientific knowledge or prescription as practicing fast helps in keep a healthy physique. Fasting promotes paucity in the body. As per Ayurveda fasting increases the pneumatic and celestial properties in a body. As increase in these properties helps in curing phlegm or muscular-fattening related ailments. Stool, urine and transpiration are exploited. Fasting also gives rest to the digestive system which positively affects other body functions. The content of sugar gets controlled in the blood. Joint pain is relieved as the accumulation of heterogeneous objects doesn't happen in the fasting period. It has been experienced that following fasting in the right manner helps in curing transmitting diseases and also increases the antibodies.

Fasting for body could be compare to heavy machinery being rested after some time for overhauling in order to keep the machinery properly functioning over a period of long time. In attaining self righteousness as per various religions fasting has been suggested in all religions. Healthy body and a fit mind thus helps in attaining self-righteousness. Fasting has proved beneficial in not just physical ailments but also in sadness, con-emotions, delirium, epilepsy and depression etc. and also to an extent in mental ailments.

The ontological food consumed during fasting also tunes the mind to be ontological one and further helps one to be full of devotion, memory increment, humble, intelligent, sacred, pure, enthusiasm, skilled, patience and intellect. Actually only after understanding the importance of fasting for physical and mental well being it has been associated with religious beliefs.
